A mild diuretic, anti-inflammatory and urinary antiseptic, Saw palmetto reduces inflammation and the tendency to infection in the genitourinary tract.
Traditionally seen as a nutritious tonic for both female and male reproductive systems and urinary tracts, the berry was also used to increase breast milk supply.Often prescribed for impotence, reduced or absent sex drive and testicular atrophy in men, studies have shown Saw palmetto to be as standard drugs for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in improving urine flow and urgency problems without the side effects of the drugs.
To make an infusion
Take 20g of the dried berries and place in a pot with 500ml boiling water. Infuse for 15 minutes then strain some of the infusion into a cup. For enlarged prostate, take 1 cup daily.
